about

This show came after Weltanschauung and before The Impotent Fury of the Privileged.

I wrote it in late 2006/early 2007 and first performed it at the Melbourne Comedy Festival of 2007 in the Atheneum. A theatre in the CBD that was, at that time, quite charmingly buggered and comfortably the largest venue i'd performed in for more than one night.

It felt quite like something of a watershed at the time, to be honest.

Obviously, it was a long time ago, but probably my two main memories, since you ask, would be the feeling of delight when the ticket sales, having been slowly growing over the month, were sufficient to necessitate opening the balcony and the feeling of confused panic when, ten minutes before the end of the show, quite a lot of people started leaving.

I had, it transpired, staged a ninety minute show starting at 10.30pm in an area of the city where the car parks got locked at midnight.

This recording though is taken from the Edinburgh Festival of 2007 where i performed the show at the Stand Comedy Club, on York Place at Midnight - like, if you'll forgive me for saying so, a really cool person.

Here is the original blurb:-

With stories about swimming in the sea, the courage of kindness, and telling your parents you love them. Words will swell with hope and float into the sky until they explode like fireworks and suddenly your tummy is flipping, your heart is thumping, your eyes are wet and your skin is tingling with some forgotten magic.

That just about sums it up.

about

Daniel Kitson UK

Hello.

I am a stand up comedian.

There'll be a variety of recordings here, some better quality than others. Some free, some pay what you think, some for a price.

Sometimes the money will go to me. Sometimes me and (long term collaborator) Gavin Osborn. Sometimes to charitable organisations. Sometimes to corrupt public officials. And sometimes to unsustainable dictatorships.

Bye Bye.
