about

When downloaded this is a seven track album making up the entire show which runs at around 105 minutes.

This is a show from 2013.

It was recorded on, i think, the 31st of July which was the last night of a short run in the Grand Hall of the Battersea Arts Centre.

I subtitled it, at the time, something like a stand up show. Which it was, i think, the only difference being that I sat at a small table throughout and operated a couple of very basic sampling machines in order to play back a section of my pre recorded voice and control some even more basic "music" i had "created" on an instrument app called a Tenori Ion.

In order to best experience the structure and intended ambient effect of the burbly noisescape - I would urge you to listen all the way through in one go.

But obviously, i appreciate that just under two hours is a big chunk of time and everyone's got stuff going on. I'm not a monster.

There is one bit of physical by play that you'll miss on the audio. A number of times in the show, you'll hear a sample of my prerecorded voice, saying the phrase "You do this". At which point in the show, i was slowly waggling a circle in the air with my right index finger as if inviting someone to turn around.

There you go.

I largely wrote the show whilst on a "work in progress" tour of Australia where the audiences seemed, on the face of it, to be very tolerant of this sort of ramshackle nonsense. However, in the following years my "numbers" have really dropped off in the southern hemisphere so i guess all decisions have consequences.

There wasn't really any artwork for the tour of the finished show and so the self portrait attached to the album is something i drew and then photocopied seven times in order to publicise an extra show at the Tuxedo Cat in Melbourne which was, in the end, attended by twelve people.

I hope you enjoy it.

about

Daniel Kitson UK

Hello.

I am a stand up comedian.

There'll be a variety of recordings here, some better quality than others. Some free, some pay what you think, some for a price.

Sometimes the money will go to me. Sometimes me and (long term collaborator) Gavin Osborn. Sometimes to charitable organisations. Sometimes to corrupt public officials. And sometimes to unsustainable dictatorships.

Bye Bye.
